I recently got married at the Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden earlier this month and it was perfect! My fiancé and I both immediately agreed to this location last year, being the first and only venue we toured. As an arborist and an environmental studies major, it seemed to be the obvious choice. The amount of love, care and attention given to every inch of the gardens really shined through, as the stage was set and all we had to do was bring the party.
We exchanged our vows under the Ginkgo tree by the Bloemendaal House, towering over us in all its grandeur. The long drooping limbs splayed out from the trunk like some goddess offering her blessings to our union. We walked under the low limb of the Blue Atlas Cedar and Dawn Redwood while we made our way to the altar. There were many other trees in attendance, including a Maple, Darlington Oak, Tulip Poplar and Dogwood, but no Ailanthus or Bradford Pear trees were invited.
We thanked the trees for their shade during the sunny afternoon heat, then brought them into every family photo. At this time of year most of the trees have already bloomed, with the exception of a few magnolia trees but the bar, but the canopies were nevertheless lush and full of green leaves. We drank, danced and partied the night away amongst the foliage, kicking off a wonderful start to the rest of our lives together.
Everything was in its right place, from the magnificent trees to the vibrant floral display, setting an ambiance that will live forever in my memory. I could not have had a better wedding and thank all the people of Lewis Ginter from the bottom of my heart.
